Hi guys,

Just to let you know that at the end of March there was some excitement on TB when the new EasyJet schedules were released...

A couple of days after booking my EasyJet flights I had a look on the Wizzair website - just to compare prices/offerings, as you do...

I received my credit card statement today, where I have been billed nearly £215 by Wizz Air, for a telephone reservation made by someone using my card details but in another name... (the flight(s) was from Luton to Lithuania...).

This of course might just be coincidental with me probably having been on the Wizz Air web site at about the time that the fraudulent booking was made (don't think I have ever actually flown with them).

I suggest that you might like to scrutinise your recent credit card statements if you have been anywhere near the Wizz Air web site recently.

Hope that helps.

Unless you put your card details on their site , i think its a coincidence .

I have used them for the last 5 years + and never had an dodgy transactions on my card , nor my guests either

Hope you sort it out though , never nice getting a shock item on a statement

WFM

Hi WFM,

Sorting it out doesn't appear to have been too bad (so far).

First I 'phoned Wizzair, who could/would do nothing except say that the reservation was not made in my name, tell me the airport it was going to, and that they could do nothing but I had to contact the credit card company.

I then 'phoned the credit card company, who will dispute/stop/reclaim the charge made by Wizzair, and have put a stop/cancellation on the cards, and will post me some replacement cards and a declaration to sign to confirm the theft.

Hopefully that will be it.

Apparently it will take about 3 weeks for the new cards to arrive. So that will be a bit of a nuisance but, hey, look on the bright side - while we haven't got the cards we won't be able to use them, for 3 weeks - so could maybe end up saving money in the long term as a result!

Agree that it could be 'some' coincidence that someone obtains my credit card details (maybe when I'm using it in an Eastern European country a few weeks ago...) and then, by 'phone, books a flight to Lithuania with WizzAir from Luton on a day when I just happen to be browsing the Wizz Air web site...

I think that the odds of that happening by chance must be similar to the odds of winning the lottery. I just wish that Lady Luck had decided upon a lottery win instead - and if she'd been good enough to have given me some kind of advance notice I might even have bought a ticket!

Many thanks,

SM

On two occasions our bank has rung me up a day or so after I booked tickets with WizzAir on their card - just to check it was a bonafide transaction...

I've had a lot of problems in the past (I would guess around 3 years or more ago) with fraudulent flights being booked on my card after booking with Wizz Air. Then again, I've also had the same with BA.

I always have to use the 'pay by bank transfer' for Wizzair. Neither my debit or credit card will go through on the site - it always comes up as dodgy!

I had my card details copied last year and the bank were really good about sorgetting it all sorted out. Whoever had my stolen bank details wasn't that bright though - they made a payment to a debt collection agency that had all their details!
