Hi WFM,
Sorting it out doesn't appear to have been too bad (so far).
First I 'phoned Wizzair, who could/would do nothing except say that the reservation was not made in my name, tell me the airport it was going to, and that they could do nothing but I had to contact the credit card company.
I then 'phoned the credit card company, who will dispute/stop/reclaim the charge made by Wizzair, and have put a stop/cancellation on the cards, and will post me some replacement cards and a declaration to sign to confirm the theft.
Hopefully that will be it.
Apparently it will take about 3 weeks for the new cards to arrive. So that will be a bit of a nuisance but, hey, look on the bright side - while we haven't got the cards we won't be able to use them, for 3 weeks - so could maybe end up saving money in the long term as a result!
Agree that it could be 'some' coincidence that someone obtains my credit card details (maybe when I'm using it in an Eastern European country a few weeks ago...) and then, by 'phone, books a flight to Lithuania with WizzAir from Luton on a day when I just happen to be browsing the Wizz Air web site...
I think that the odds of that happening by chance must be similar to the odds of winning the lottery. I just wish that Lady Luck had decided upon a lottery win instead - and if she'd been good enough to have given me some kind of advance notice I might even have bought a ticket!
Many thanks,
SM
